Artist Bio: Matt McGuire

 

CosmicMellen is the creative brand and passion project of artist Matt McGuire. His artistic journey began in childhood, sketching dinosaurs and Ninja Turtles, and evolved over the years into his distinctive, psychedelic style. A Colorado native, Matt’s love and enjoyment of the outdoors influences much of his work. Growing up skiing and camping in the enchanting Rocky Mountains, he draws endless inspiration (pun intended) from the patterns and designs of the natural world. Until 2022,  Matt created all his art using traditional techniques, meticulously hand-drawing and coloring with professional pens and markers. Recently, he has applied his skills to a virtual canvas where he creates digitally hand-drawn art with a stylus pen.

 

Matt's full time occupation is teaching 5th grade, which he has been doing since 2013.  As a husband and father of two young girls, he treasures his limited free time and dedicates it to his artistic endeavors. Under the CosmicMellen brand, he manages an Etsy shop and has showcased his art at festivals like the West Colfax Mural Fest and The Glens Art Walk in Lakewood. His psychedelic dinosaur stickers are also featured in the Morrison Natural History Museum gift shop.
